Barack Obama’s use of the internet was revolutionary in American politics. Now we see the incoming administration continuing the trend with the Change.gov site where citizens can ask questions online.
In the Energy and Environment section It’s refreshing to see questions ranging tackling intercity rail projects, distributed power and renewables vs. nuclear. In fact there are a lot of really intelligent questions concerning our energy and environmental future. The Obama "team" plans to answer some of the top-rated questions in the New Year. The questions range from extremely broad to extremely specific, and from energy issues to preserving habitat for predators in Alaska, while more focus on broader more far reaching issues such as,
"What types of serious and effective incentives will the new administration propose to force China, India and other major polluters into compliance with environmental agreements such as Kyoto 2 (or even less stringent regulations)?"
There is no doubting that Obama has quite a job on his hands but if he continues to get into the hearts and minds of Americans by asking them what they are concerned about he might just make it.
