We are delighted to be associate with Electric Picnic this year. In their continuing effort to be more eco conscious the EP has taken substantial steps, check them out at www.electricpicnic.ie/html/ecopicnic.html.
In your mind what can festivals do to be more eco-friendly and reduce their energy consumption. Choc ice prize for the best suggestion!

Here's another great idea for the festival circuit. With loads of food stalls and vendors the use of plastic plates and containers is a real problem. I just came across this site www.verterra.com who make biodegradable plates and containers.

How about the festival demonstrates it's commitment to reducing environmental impact by walking its green talk and reusing, recycling or composting as much of show waste as is possible. To further reduce the footprint of the event and its attendees, those who arrive by bicycle could be offered free valet parking(though it would be a long bike ride for some of us but maybe we could be encouraged to car pool or avail of bus services getting there). The Festival could also provide carbon offsets for the entire event and its participating staff and organizers. These are some of the things that http://www.greenfestivals.org are doing in the USA!
