Unplug or put major applicanes on dead switches
why pay for or use the energy to juice up your microwave when you are not using it. I unplug my appliances and even turn off the router through a dead switch power strip when I am not using them.

Turning off plugs or unplugging appliances while out of use is something I have always done out of habit impaled in me since childhood(nothing went to waste in our home including electrical current)...it's when I live with other people that I notice...recently I have noticed that my kids switch off the power to the TV any time they notice it's on(this makes me smile as they teach the adults around them). My gran used to leave the TV plugged in at night...then lightning struck the aerial and it caused the electrical charge to set the TV on fire....lucky she woke up to put it out!
