Switch to reusable sanitary products

Disposable tampons and sanitary pads are a huge contributor to landfill sites, and often contain harmful substances like dioxin and bleach. Reusable sanitary products such as menstrual cups may cost more but save money in the long run as you only need to replace them every few years, and you won't be filling up landfill sites. Menstrual cups are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration in the US and have been safely used for decades, with no association with toxic shock syndrome. Other reusable sanitary products include washable cloth sanitary napkins and natural sponges.

did the whole real nappy lark and then realised that now my bins weren't full of used nappies the only thing that I couldn't recycle, reuse or compost was the bin full of yucky sanitary products every month. Switched to the Mooncup 6 months ago - and to tell you the truth girls, my only regret is the 24 years previous that I didn't use it, I even look forward to my periods now, so easy, so effective (no leaks)and so cheap (18 pounds to buy and I have already saved twice that in the last 6months) go on give it a go and don't be embarrassed by this most personal or goals
