Use reusable baby wipes instead of disposable ones.
Instead of using expensive disposable wipes, (which are invariably scented and occasionally contain alcohol and other harsh chemicals) use toweling cloths wetted with water.

When I was pregnant with the twins, and looking to save more money, (we already used washable nappies), I read a post on the TAMBA boards from someone who used toweling wipes. So I bought a couple of meters of toweling, cut it up into rough squares and hemmed them. I them took a handful at a time, wet them under the tap, and then placed them in a ziplock bag ready for use. When I've used them they go in the nappy bucket with the nappies. I found they are so much more effective at cleaning messy bottoms than the shop bought disposable wipes. (And no harsh chemicals!)
