Is there a reason to buy one for the job rather than re-using a 'bottled water' bottle? 6 answers

Well, at the moment, water bottles last me about a week - they get knocked around in my bag and after a week or so, I find they gt a bit smelly as well ;)
Also: people at work and home throw them out ;)

The guys at Patagonia make most of their fleece products from recycled plastic bottle in fact it takes 25 plastic bottles to make a fleece. By the way check out their product footprint initiative this is the way all companies should b!

There are several very good reasons to not re-use plastic water bottles. #1 is that they can leach chemicals from the bottle into your water, esp if they're near sun or heat. Also, you'll inevitably end up buying more one time use plastic bottles than if you invest in one. Plus, it seems a bit silly to pay for water, right? I recommend checking out this site and grabbing a water bottle, I'm not sure about shipping to the UK, but its a great campaign and a great water bottle : )
(I think you can get the water bottle under pledge kit? I'm not terribly sure though)

I was looking up green stuff on the internet for quiet a while now and almost everywhere it said:"do not use bottled water" but I was wondering if you all drink tap-water? I would think that you can't drink tap water in every city. You know sometimes it smells like chlorine.

In the past I have also been re-using plastic water bottles - very occasionally, on trips - but I'm concerned about chemicals leeching into water from the plastic too...
So more recently I opted for a glass bottle - trouble is if other people find it on eg a picknick they will sometimes throw it away, if it's not marked especially or if you don't hide it the right time..
I saw an 'eco' German girl years ago just carry a glass bottle along where she went, to the train too etc.
I don't fully trust stainless steel bottles yet... I'm not 100% sure about them... & some people may have an allergy/sensitivity to the bottle..?
At work, I just had my own cup & poured water or tea or whatever into it... (but beware cheapie ceramic cups from China.. especially with regard to hot water.. better to pour in not-so-hot water, cold first..)

I am able to drink the tap water, but I also have a water pitcher that I keep in the fridge and that my company has at work as well.

In the US, you can drink from the vast majority of municipal water systems. Dasani comes from Philadelphia tap water, so you might as well pay less for tap water if Pepsi and Coke are charging you for it!

Yes, I drink tap water :)
It's okay where I live (or so I think!)I heard there's more chlorine in water at night, & more so in hot water - so cold water poured during the day should be better...
Also, if I understand it right, if the water is in an eg glass jug for a while, it's better.. Like for watering the plants..
We have a Britta filter too, my sis enjoys it, but I find water tastes a bit funny/sweet after it..
It really depends where you live.. & what your city's water source is.. (& if it's polluted &/or needs more chemicals to clean).. it would be good to inquire about those..
I heard some cities abroad (including USA I think!) just reuse water from rivers that had water from wastewater treatment facilities poured in.. just use more chemicals to treat it.. so it's important to find out where your city's water sources come from & what they are like! -
