      Probably motion detectors--but that might not work if you're sitting quietly reading!

      yup, there are def. motion sensor lights, my parents had them all over the house when i was a kid! If it goes out before you owant it to, wave your hand. They're really good for hallway lights etc

      While these devices are good we really need to form new habits. The best piece of technology we have at our disposal is our brains and if we practice putting them to good use. In my view all this particular action requires is the simple flick of a switch with our finger.

      I agree about habit forming and I'm quite good at switching off lights, generally, but it's not as easy to get my house mates doing the same thing.
