When we're not using reclaimed materials, all of the new wood we buy is FSC certified - which we then use to build the furniture and other products we sell.
We're a tiny indie company, so can't afford to pay FSC for the right to use their logo on our finished products - the process was convoluted and overwhelming to say the least... it really needs to be more accessible for the little guy who just wants to do the right thing, and make an honest living.
So keep in mind, if you're buying from independent craftsmen, they may not yet have the logo rights (COC), but should still be able to support their claims when asked.
It's good to buy notebooks, books and magazines with the FSC logo too!
