Make traveling in my car as green as possible
Some simple maintenance will make your car run as efficiently as possible, reducing your petrol consumption and so reducing pollution. Make sure your tyres are the right pressure, remove excess weight from your vehicle ( yes, all those bottles for recycling that have been in your boot for a month! Go to the bottle bank today!), don't rev your engine and stick to the speed limit for safety and optimal petrol efficiency.

I mostly use public transportation where ever I go unless it is inefficent (places hard to reach with public transportation). The bike for short distances and in the Netherlands I'm part of a green car network. This a concept of a dutch company to have cars distributed around the country that can be used by several people. Personnaly I don't own a car.

I purchased a diesel car to commute to work since it has very fuel efficiency. I also found a station near my office that sells 20% biodiesel. I go to it as often as I can.
A friend of mine is constructing a home brew diesel system and I am doing research to see if my engine can handle it, or a blend with biodiesel. -
Fortunately I have mechanics in the family so maintenance is regular and free (thanks Dad). I try to leave the car at home as often as possible and walk to town and educated my son on why we should have a 'leave the car at home day' at least once a week gets him to think about the impact that cars have on the environment. My car is a reliable second-hand 3 door (I cycled until I was 31 and had a child) but I'm hoping that when I need a new one I can afford a hybrid - hopefully a Prius.
